SBC Hive Spotlight: Addie Gordon
The Social B. Creative team is pleased to have Addie Gordon as one of our freelance project managers and content creators. Addie has been collaborating with us over the past few months, developing a consistent schedule for “The Buzz”, which is the branded term for our organization’s blog.
She hosts weekly meetings with our editorial and writing contributors, always making sure we’re staying on a regular posting schedule, and providing interesting, quality content that resonates with our clients and community. As another SBC freelancer put it, “Addie is like a real life Siri: Reminder, did you do the thing? Don’t forget to do the thing!” Addie is the perfect person to work with if you need someone to keep you on task. Here’s a short Q&A to get to know her better.
Tell us about your professional background. How long have you been in your line of work? What is your current role/position?
I attended BGSU to study Journalism and that is still my true passion. My first job starting out was at a small daily newspaper as a Staff Writer. Unfortunately, that was during a time of economic crisis, so I had to move on from that line of work. For the past 12 years, I have been working more in the market research space. I have held both Sales and Field Management positions in this field, working directly with clients and vendors to ensure seamless project completion. This is interesting work as this data influences many business decisions and new product development. My current title is Account Manager, where my focus is on the Sales side of the business.
What attracted you to joining the SBC network?
As I said, being able to flex my writing/editing muscles is still my true passion so I jumped at the opportunity to be part of this great group where I could do that! I am currently managing the blog series (The Buzz), which I enjoy because I organize the schedule, edit the weekly posts, as well as write some of my own from time to time!
What do you consider your biggest work accomplishment so far?
At my current company, I have only been there 2 years, but in that time, I’ve taken on a team lead position naturally. My four colleagues on the team come to me for advice, for strategic thinking and problem-solving, and it feels good to have such an impact!
When I’m not working, I can usually be found…
Exercising! I love to run/walk outside, as well as keep up with strength training and circuit training – pretty much everything that makes me sweat! I also enjoy the outdoors, anything from kayaking to fishing to exploring nature!
